Since its inception in 2006, Reds10 has been dedicated to addressing the aging construction population, through hosting and supporting apprentices and students on placement. This commitment has naturally expanded into a focus on providing sustainable career pathways throughout the business and at all career levels.
The company’s student engagement work always comes back to the same goal: to ignite inspiration among young people about the construction industry and their potential within it.
To this end, over the last year, Reds10 has built a strong partnership with Construction Youth Trust, a charity that supports and inspires young people in accessing careers in construction and the built environment through connection with employers.
Reds10 has primarily been working with the Construction Youth Trust’s Barking and Dagenham team, which is local to one of our Education sector projects, to deliver careers sessions to students, focusing on different career opportunities in the industry, as well as apprenticeships, CV writing and interview skills.
“Partnerships are key to our work at Construction Youth Trust. We seek to enable young people to reach their full career potential by connecting them with employers and opportunities in the construction industry and we can only do this with the support of our network of employer partners. Reds10 has been generous in its support of our work with schools in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham since October 2022. In that time, it has contributed a total of 43 volunteer hours across four coaching programmes and two Building Future Skills programmes with four secondary schools. A total of 223 young people, of which over 40% were female, participated in sessions such as CV Masterclass, Mock Interviews, Applications Masterclass and Presentation Skills, all with the support of industry experts from Reds10. This support has been magnificent, and we are truly grateful to Reds10 for helping us make a difference for these young people.”

Most recently, four colleagues from the London office, took part in Construction Youth Trust’s three-day Building Future Skills programme, during which 22 Year 12 students from four schools across the Borough worked in teams to complete tasks designed to prepare them for the world of work.
The students were split into five groups, assigned individual roles and tasked with putting together a bid for a local residential development in the local area. The groups spent the next three days developing their concepts and presentations. The Reds10 volunteers helped the students develop their proposals, advised on commercial strategies, had input into design considerations and providing presentation advice. Once the bids were complete two Reds10 team members sat on a panel of five judges and provided feedback to each group, evaluated each proposal and presentation and voted on the winning group.
Following the programme, Reds10 is pleased to host one of the attending students for Work Experience in July 2024.
“It’s so rewarding to work with such talented students, seeing their enthusiasm for the construction industry and helping them focus and channel that enthusiasm towards a future career. Volunteering with the Construction Youth Trust is a very enjoyable and worthwhile experience, and an important one, to ensure we are supporting the future generation of our industry.”
