Reds10 sponsors Oarsome Army Educators in ‘The World’s Toughest Row’

Reds10 is proud to sponsor the Oarsome Army Educators, a team from the Educational and Training Services branch of the British Army, as they take on The World’s Toughest Row.

This 3,000-mile challenge will see them rowing across the Atlantic Ocean for approximately 4 weeks, from La Gomera to Antigua, competing against 29 other teams.

The team are participating in the race to raise money for two charities, The Adjutant General's Corps Association and the Army Benevolent Fund, both of which provide crucial support to soldiers, veterans, and their families.

The race began in December, and the team has recently reached the halfway point whilst rowing through the deepest part of the ocean, where the nearest land was over 5,000 meters below them, at the ocean floor.

So far on their journey, the Oarsome Army Educators have faced treacherous weather conditions, including 25 knot winds and waves of 3m+ soaking the decks. This is in addition to contending with dust blown over from the Sahara Desert, which obscures the sunlight and covers everything—from the rowers themselves to the solar panels on the boat.

However, the weather has since calmed and the team has had some brilliant experiences, such as a dip in the ocean on Christmas Day and rowing alongside a pod of dolphins for a long while.

The Oarsome Army Educators are currently ranked 13th in all boats, 8th out of four team-member boats, and 2nd in the mixed class, with a total of 926.6 nautical miles remaining on their journey.
