Dinton Pastures new £2.4million activity centre edges closer to completion with the successful installation of the outer building’s Siberian larch cladding. The eco-friendly exterior has been expertly designed by HLM Architects to complement the tree lined landscape of the park.
The material will weather over time to further blend with its natural surroundings and is also certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Installation of the building and its exterior is being carried out by Reds10.
The two-storey centre will be the borough’s first net zero carbon building, complete with a number of energy-efficient features including solar panels and windcatchers on the roof, and air source heat pumps, which will significantly reduce the centre’s overall energy demand.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy several state-of-the art features, including an activity hall, meeting rooms and coffee shop with breath-taking views of the lake. In addition, the building has been created with accessibility in mind featuring a ‘changing spaces’ facility at ground-floor.
Outside there will be a lake side terrace, bridge, and cycle parking. The centre is set to open in time for summer.
