Reds10 and Hull City Ladies FC (HCLFC) are delighted to announce the launch of our pioneering ‘Dual Career Pathway’, which creates a sustainable future for women in the East Yorkshire area to pursue their footballing dreams with HCLFC, while developing a parallel career in construction through apprenticeships hosted by Reds10.
Working together on our ‘Breaking Down Barriers’ programme, Reds10 and HCLFC have identified a significant gap in the support and employment opportunities for women who aspire to make football a full-time career but need a career to support themselves financially while they are training and to fall back on once the football boots have been hung up.
Our Dual Career Pathway provides young women with a flexible working pattern and study time that enable participants to gain college qualifications and work experience through one of several practical apprenticeships in the design and manufacture of off-site buildings and manage the intensive training required to be a competitive footballer.
Putting it simply the Reds10 x HCLFC Dual Career Pathway provides a unique opportunity for women to gain the practical skills required for both a career in football and for that in off–site construction, while offering a regular salary.
“For too long construction has failed to attract enough young people and particularly women into the industry. We are very proud of our investment in apprenticeships and delighted that through our ‘Breaking Down Barriers’ partnership with HCLFC we have been able to create another innovative pathway for young women to pursue their footballing dreams and build a meaningful career in our fantastic industry.”
Matt Bennion, CEO for Reds10
“The Dual Career Pathway is designed to give every female player the opportunity to excel in football whilst offering opportunities to them away from the field.
I’m delighted that Reds10 share our vision of offering apprenticeships whilst supporting football careers. Reds10 already has employees who are also footballers at Hull City Ladies Football Club and the company supports them tremendously.
Hull City Ladies Football Club is dedicated to caring for each person in the senior and youth section of the club, that’s not just from a footballing or medical point of view but also their education and careers, which I believe this firmly shows.”
Danny Johnson, Managing Director for Hull City Ladies FC
