Reds10 raises £27,000 in aid of CRASH and win the Meet Your Mountain Challenge 2022

The Meet Your Mountain Challenge 2022 was a new charity challenge which took place 6th-8th October 2022 in Chamonix, the adventure capital of the Alps.

Over the course of two days, four teams challenged themselves against each other in a hiking event requiring them (with the help of a dedicated team Guide) to plan the route and gain points from a combination of altitude gain and distance covered.  Extra points were awarded for best photograph, cold water challenge and wildlife seen.  Each team was required to fundraise for a charity of their choice and points were awarded for fundraising achieved.

The event was organised by CHX Challenge who provide bespoke mountain challenges and charity fundraising events in the Alps and other mountain destinations.

The Reds10 team (Tom Hook, Matt Joyce, Ed Joyce, Louis Mottley, Jay Crow, Phil Alexandrakis and Josh Saunders) were the first to fully commit to the Challenge and did so with huge enthusiasm from the beginning, fundraising in aid of construction charity CRASH, who Reds10 have been a Corporate Patron of since 2018.

Despite four competitive teams and a fiercely fought challenge, everyone came together with great spirit each evening and put the charity fundraising at the heart of the event.  As a result of some fantastic teamwork, well-planned routes, a winning entry in the photo competition, the highest fundraising total of all the teams (over £27,000) and despite being the only team not to get into cold water, Reds10 ultimately triumphed.

The donations raised by the Reds10 team, and the generous companies who sponsored their efforts, will make a significant difference to people who are homeless, and children and adults receiving hospice care. With Reds10's ongoing support through fundraising and donated professional expertise and product, CRASH can continue to help homelessness and hospice organisations with their construction projects – creating places that care for people when they’re at their most vulnerable.

“Being part of CHX’s inaugural Meet Your Mountain challenge has been hugely rewarding for me and the rest of the Reds10 team. Hiking up 2960m of elevation over 36km in two days was a great challenge and seeing the money pour in whilst walking was a huge motivator when thinking about all the people it would help. Having personally not done a huge amount of fundraising before we were apprehensive about reaching our target, but thanks to our incredible supply chain, friends and family we surpassed our initial target, and then some! We’re excited to come back next year to defend our title, and hopefully raise even more money for CRASH.”

Tom Hook, Associate Director – MOD at Reds10 & Meet your Mountain Reds10 Team Leader

‘’Thank you so much to the Reds10 ‘Meet your Mountain’ team – what an incredible achievement! We are blown away by your incredible fundraising efforts and the generosity of your supply chain network. You have demonstrated what it means to support CRASH, your industry charity, together. The donations you have raised will help to make a meaningful difference to people who are homeless, and those who need hospice care by constructing and refurbishing the buildings they need. Thank you for going above and beyond to support CRASH and the people we’re here to help.’’

Lucie Gillard, Partnership and Fundraising Manager at CRASH
