Reds10, the UK’s leading design and build modular contractor, have been appointed by Berkeley Homes to deliver Green Park Village Primary School in Reading. This is in the face of strong competition from Tier One Contractors, who proposed traditional construction methods. Reds10 came first against the Tier One Contractors with its qualitative and commercial offer.
Reds10 have agreed a lump sum price for the works, including all external works, public realm, infrastructure, statutory services and the turnkey construction of this landmark building. Reds10 have not only demonstrated value for money and efficiency of design; but will also deliver this scheme from appointment to commencing Pre-Construction Activities through to handing over the completed building within just 12 months.
Green Park Village School will be located in Green Park Village, the new 1400 property signature development by Berkeley Homes. The School and its surroundings have been designed to frame and highlight the main communal gathering and social space of this exclusive development. As an Architectural Centrepiece, the original concept was for the school to be built based on a traditional on-site constructed steel frame. Reds10 were able to demonstrate how this type of building (even with its non-standard shape) can be delivered to a fraction of the budget, in a significantly reduced period of time on site, and to a quality that complements the exceptional standards of Berkeley Homes, using Volumetric Modular Construction.
Berkeley Homes is in the process of building its own factory to construct modular houses and apartments. Consequently, the entire company, from Chairman to site staff, is particularly interested to see how this process can work when implemented effectively, and to witness the true benefits of Volumetric Modular Construction.
