New Activity Centre located at Dinton Pastures Country Park
- Two storey modular building cladded with Siberian larch, includes activity hall, coffee shop, viewing gallery and more
- Enhanced green credentials with carbon reduction measures incorporated into design and future operation, supporting the council’s commitment to be carbon neutral by 2030
Reds10 delivered this scheme for Wokingham Borough Council which reflects public feedback. The design by HLM Architects includes Siberian larch cladding that weathers over time to blend in with the natural surroundings.
Supporting the council’s commitment to be carbon neutral by 2030, the design also includes several eco-friendly features, such as three large windcatchers, photovoltaic panels on the roof and air source heat pumps, which significantly reduce the centre’s overall energy demand.
Once again, Reds10 challenged what is possible with off-site construction through a non-standard design including enhanced external features that tie into the building, but also allow for seamless integration with the natural landscapes the building sits in. The building was designed with materials to reduce the embodied carbon emissions in the manufacturing of the building as much as possible.
